What We Do

Training

CASA volunteers are provided with 30 hours of mandatory pre-service orientation training. Our program currently offers four orientation training series per year. These usually occur during the months of January, April, July and October. The orientation training covers topics such as child development, strengths-based planning, cultural competency, CASA code of conduct , family engagement, domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health, court process, and dependency law.

Ongoing training for active CASAs is also provided throughout the year. Volunteers are supported by experienced CASA staff. The program also encourages court observation and matches each new volunteer with a trained mentor.
